Bishop Seat

Categories: [Architecture]  [Europe]  [France]
By definition, a cathedral is a church housing the seat of a bishop, an important priest in the Roman Catholic Church hierarchy. That's why cathedrals always were built by the finest artisans of their time and are usually more magnificent than the "ordinary" churches.
Looking as a throne, the chair on the left could well be the seat where the bishop himself took place during ceremonies!
