The Dome, covering the nave 55.6 meters above floor level, was one of the most advanced and ambitious engineering of late antiquity. The original Christian painting where replaced by the Islamic elements visible on the photo. The cherubs in the corner where also covered and that time and are apparent again since the transformation of the mosque into a museum.
