The Sublime Porte

Categories: [Architecture]  [Europe]  [Night]  [Turkey]
Welcome to the "Sublime Porte", the name given by Western diplomats to the Ottoman Empire.
Last summer I had the opportunity to spend a few days in Istanbul, Turkey. What an amazing city ! Capital of the Byzantine Empire during more than 1000years, then of the Ottoman Empire, it hosts load of impressive monuments. Visiting the city, you really feel that it was the center of the "known universe".
And nowadays, contrary to some sleepy "museum cities" of Western Europe, Istanbul is still full of life and vibrant !
