Umbrella Man

At the beginning of my trip, I bicycled through a small village when I stumbled upon this old man carrying an umbrella. Having noticed that I had a camera around my neck, he hailed me and insisted that I make his portrait. A first I was a little bit suspicious : did he want to make some easy money ? But as I quickly discovered, Sinhalese people are very found of being photographed ! I never had such an easy contact with local populations in my previous trips !
By the way, bicycling is really a good way to make nice encounters. Just be sure to avoid the main roads... if you want to preserve your life !
