Moscow Metro

Categories: [Architecture]  [Europe]  [People]  [Russia]
The Moscow Metro is the world's second most heavily used rapid-transit system. Each year, more than 2.5 billion people ride it !
Most of its stations were built during the Cold War and were deeply buried in order to be used as shelters in case of a nuclear war !
Nevertheless, these stations are magnificent ; with crystal chandeliers and mosaics depicting happy workers and peasants. Soviet style !
