Tropical Station

Categories: [Architecture]  [Europe]
The "Atocha Station" is the largest railway station in Madrid. In 1992 the terminal, dating from mid-19th century, was taken out of service and converted into a concourse with shops, cafés and a tropical garden.
You can compare its architecture with the Parisian "Musée d'Orsay", another 19th century station converted in a museum which I depicted in a previous post.

Sadly the Atocha Station was also the stage of the 11 March 2004 Madrid train bombing.
